Rosalyn “Roz” Gilles, 71, Oconto, passed away peacefully at home with family Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, after a courageous battle with heart disease. She was born July 19, 1946, in Oconto Falls to John and Veteline Fabry. Rosalyn graduated from Oconto Falls High School, Class of 1964. She attended beauty school and owned/operated salons in Green Bay and Lena. On April 27, 1968, Rosalyn married the love of her life, Leo Gilles. Leo and Rosalyn will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year together with family. Rosalyn and Leo were dairy farmers most of their lives, owning farms in both Lena and Little River. After the sale of the Oconto homestead in 1994, Rosalyn pursued a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and spent the rest of her days caring for others. Rosalyn was active in the local Catholic community. She supported the Little River Volunteer Fire Department and 4-H club. Rosalyn and Leo were accomplished bowlers for many years, participating in a Lena couples league.

Rosalyn is survived by her husband, Leo; four children, Christina (Paul) Meyer, John “Jay” Joseph (Fiancé Jolita Katlauskaite) Gilles, Sara (Shane) Copeland, Renee (Eric Blaies) Gilles; five grandchildren, Nathan (Fiancé Nichole), Madison, Christian, Brittney, Austin; a great-granddaughter, Grace; a sister, Marie (Johnny) Slempkes; two brothers, Lloyd (Claire) Fabry, Willie (Donna) Fabry; a brother-in-law, Fred Koltz; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Rosalyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Ruthie and Gale Schneider, and sister Esther Snyder-Koltz.

Friends may call at St. Anne Catholic Church, 209 E. Main St., Lena, on Saturday Jan. 13, 2018, from 9 until 11 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Lena.
